summer fun and festivities. In 1996, her monoprint illustrations were featured in the book; “Magic Time, A Family Guide to Martha’s
Vineyard”, written by Susan Spence and Rick Glassberg. Her images
are often of Island landmarks, both new and old. They can take you
on a trip down memory lane or help you take notice of an overlooked treasure. Renee has exhibited on the Vineyard for many years and the Dragonfly Gallery is pleased to feature her newest work.

Julie Y. Baker Albright

Julie Y. Baker Albright Albright says of her work: “I work with oil in the classical style, from life, in north light. Fundamental to my work are
strong drawing skills. As a painter of still lifes, there is a common universal quality in the objects I choose to paint. I strive for the illusion
of the 3rd dimension, to paint the air behind the object and create a tranquil experience to share.”

Working with a local gardener known for his diverse hydrangea garden, she has produced a rich, colorful body of work.

Brooke Adams

Actress and artist Brooke Adams spends much of her time on Martha’s Vineyard. She describes her approach to painting in this artist statement:
“When I’m painting I try to let the light tell the story in as honest a way as possible. Painting people is very much like acting for me. I look and look and look some more at the map of the face and let it reveal the feelings beneath it. In acting you can try to find the feelings and then, hopefully, your body language and voice and facial features express them or you can get the voice and body language and face first and if you get them right the emotion will be exposed. I always felt more connected when I did it the second way. That may be why painting is a natural form for me.”
