“Since moving to the Island, Mr. Alaimo has emerged as one
of a very select few top-shelf pianists to have taken up
residence here in the last 20 years or so. He is a
versatile, sophisticated musician who has garnered the
respect of both listeners and fellow musicians. |
from Alain Gerber’s radio program broadcast in Paris:
|
‘One of
those American success stories about which we never tire of
hearing and which we rarely witness on this side of the
Atlantic. John Alaimo presents a music that is true,
delicious, and full of charm, elegance and lightness, always played with feeling and conviction in the hopes of
communicating and communing with his audience. The
delicate, precise touch and clear articulation that John achieves is
astonishing. Each time he sits at the piano, he produces a
music lesson at the level of a master class.” |

After studying
piano privately at a very young age, John began playing professionally
while still in his early teens. He attended Boston University, Berklee
College of Music and the Boston Conservatory of Music where he studied
composition, arranging and education. After working as producer,
composer and arranger at Boston based “World Star Productions” he
moved to Los Angeles where he continued his music career working as a
composer, arranger and teacher. John’s love of playing piano resurfaced
after studying with the great jazz artist Hampton Hawes. Coming back to
the East Coast he played piano in the house band of the 1369 Jazz Club
during its tenure as the premier jazz venue in the Cambridge-Boston
area. |
